Fozzy and Angst
Sometimes I think life would be great if we had a friend like Fozzy the bear. Corny jokes, endearingly confused, yet lovable.
Sometimes I think life would be wonderful if I had a place of my own, a well paying job, and independence.
I think most of my peers can identify with the 20's angst syndrome. Somewhat different from your teen angst. It's the 'what am I going to do with my life!? What are my passions!? The world isn't out to get me, but man is it big!' feelings that can be overwhelming at times. Thankfully the teen angst is over. You know yourself better and you realize that your parents are on your side after all.
Making a new life for yourself is a wonderful but scary prospect. Thank goodness for support from friends, family and God who help us bumble through these years.
I had been reflecting on the above thoughts in a parked car on a busy street outside the Belleville post office, when two children, a boy and a girl maybe 6 years old were walking home from school.
It was funny watching the way these kids walked home. Their world was so immediate. Every few steps brought on a new discovery and experience. Remember those days when a ant hill, candy or shadow could bring hours of entertainment? Anyways the little boy bundled in his snow wear in the -15 degree weather discovered a chain attached to a newspaper dispenser. Instantly it turned into his noble steed as he picked the rusty looped chain up in his hands. His sister on the other hand had decided to take the wheelchair ramp out side the post office, up a level then come back down just for the heck of it. Her pink coat partially undone and her mittens trailing on the ground wavered back and forth as she tried to maintain her balance in her over sized winter boots and snow pants.
Watching these little moments it reminded me that despite of all of my future planning and so called 'big people' worries that I should try to be present in the moment. Take each minute and pause to learn and be thankful for what i have right now.
Speaking of which...I believe I have an unopened cd to listen to. A small joy, hours of entertainment.

Corny jokes, confused yet still lovable. Wait a second. . . that's me! Well, except I'm not a bear. I'm about as furry as one but still not one. But I do have a Teddy bear but that doesn't really prove my bear lineage. Especially since I'm convinced I don't have one. Just so this isn't a totaly lost cause let me add that I agree it is so important to occasionally indulge in the simple pleasure of life. Make snow angels. Admire an icicle. Pick your nose. The simple things of life.
HELLO! Until today I didn't realize you had a blog. You now have another faithful reader. I miss ya DEE! Oh, did you get the wedding invite?
