Ella Fitzgerald and alls well
My sister has this habit she's had since she was a little kid. Whatever is on her mind you'll probably find out about it at about 11pm at night. She'll knock at your bedroom door then crawl onto the bed and discuss all sorts of thoughts. I miss that. Now that she has moved to Kansas for university.
I've been blessed to have her around to myself for the past week before I take her to the airport. We stayed up till 2:30am last night talking about boys, roomates, our shared genetics, remembering weird stories, our parents and how much we wish that parts of our childhood could go on forever.
Now I'm listening to Ella Fitzgerald and appreciating the memories that she brings of my sister. How one night our friend Caitlin, Jelayna and I layed on my bed listening to the velvet voiced singer soulfully tell of being an oldfashioned girl wanting to be loved. We all fell asleep. It was one of the moments that everything just slows down and you know this is special and should be treasured. Later we all tumbled out of my room to rush to our highschool play 'The War Show' that was closing that night.
I'm sure all of us have those moments were time stands still and we capture every single detail. The smell of the room, of the person we're with. The clothing you wore, the way someone kept brushing their bangs off of their face. How keenly aware you were that you loved these people, almost overwhelmingly so. A time were we now look back and feel content for those few precious moments.
Five minutes of wonderful that make life that much better living.
I thank my sister for some of those moments. I'll miss her when I say goodbye to her tomorrow.

Forrest the teddy bear is my special memory. Everytime I see him, I think of that beautiful 8 year old girl who handed him over to me. I love my sister. It's been so great seeing you these last few days, Darolyn. Keep blogging because I'm reading often.
