Oh Elizabeth. Why don't you do your research?

Sudbury you say? Nay.
Chemlsford? A bedroom community of Sudbury? Perhaps.
Things are looking up. We're on the hunt for rental aparments. Please pray that it works out. We would love windows and a pet friendly building along with a light kitchen. With a view of some greenery. A tree?
I ate salad today. Nothing like fibre. None of that iceberg water leaf for me. No sir! Dark leafy greens. I seem to be obessing about green since my stay in Sudbury.

I discovered that I don't like 'The View' . Again... I end up watching the show every once and awhile and I come away seething. Poor, poor Elizabeth. She is terribly uninformed and an awful interviewer. I can see why they keep her on though. She says totally inflammatory things and gets Rosie going. Then up goes the ratings. I think if she travelled the world she might expand a wee bit. We could hope.
The show was touching on the torture techiniques used at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq. Unfortunately it isn't a bright spot on the America's human rights record. What set me off was Elizabeth's refusal to admit that torture was an illegal infraction of the Geneva Code. Also her need to be heard, had her talking over the person they were interviewing and not allowing her questions Elizabeth had posed to be answered. It was a very messy affair. To hear an American say she would rather be ' feared and respected then liked' was sad. I may not agree with American forgien policy but I do love the people. Some of my most favourite people live in that country. I also am inspired by the founding fathers of America. They had tremendous forsight and ideals that continue to motivate people today. To have a document like the declaration of independence is a treasure. I would hope that the true spirit(not the letter of the law) of that document would come to the surface once again to show Americans what they can truly be. An admirable, honourable people.
Elizabeth should look back to the american war for independence and see how they treated their POW's then. George Washington made it painfully clear that the British soldiers should be treated with the utmost respect. It isn't worth giving up your civil liberties to hunt down possible terrorists. In Canada we have seen the fall out of ignoring our code of civil rights. There are other ways. More effective ways.

ahh yes, nothing like sitting on a computer spouting your beliefs while another is exposed on international television. I wouldn't care to deal with the judgement.

i love when you write, dee... it's good to see it again. i totally agree with you on the View... i can't watch that show... all the women just yapping over eachother irritates me, I just want to scream: "LET ONE PERSON TALK AT A TIME!!!!". If I were Elizabeth I would be soooo embarassed, especially since it seems the only reason she's on the show is just to show the republican, un-researched american that spouts off their opinion, just to piss off the 5 other liberal hosts.. sigh, i'm so glad i don't have tv at home anymore.
to conclude my comment on your lovely blog:
here's to trees outside your window! think green.
i love you.

hey hey now...all republicans aren't unresearched and bullheaded like our dear little Elizabeth. Just to give a little background on her though--as to why you can't expect much--they got her from Survivor you know. That's the only experience she'd had before she went on the view. Kinda puts things in perspective I guess--about her anyway. Just don't lump her in with the rest of the republicans--I'm not saying I agree with them either, but I am one of them and I don't mind saying so :). Love you Mol and Dee!

ack. I didn't mean to create any impression that all replubicans are like Elizabeth. Heavens no. Far from it. That's why I didn't mention party names. I don't go in on polarizing the parties. It doesn't do anyone anygood to paint either one as ' the bad guy' or the 'idiots'. Partisanship? blah. And I knew about the survivor background. Again, poor Elizabeth. I feel like she has been set up to look the fool at times.

ummm, i mentioned elizabeth was a republican, but never said that ALL were like her-- but I think having her on the show is an attempt to paint that picture of the republican party.
claws down now. :)
